Legend: Basil takes it’s name from the Greek word ‘king’ and was highly prized and used to anoint kings through the ages. The Hindu god Krishna always wore garlands of basil around his neck, he used Holy basil to induce detachment, faith and devotion. As a sacred plant of India it is said to open the heart and bring harmony to the mind.

Heal your body: Excellent with headaches and migraines, could reduce allergies since it has an effect in the adrenal cortex which controls allergies related to stress. Often used for bronchitis, coughs, asthma, sinus congestion and earaches. Effective with digestive disorders such as nausea, flatulence, dyspepsia and vomiting and hiccups. Seems to cleanse intestines and kidneys with an antiseptic action. Imitates the oestrogen hormone and often useful with menstrual problems such as scanty periods. Could well have some effect on conception difficulties. Stimulates blood flow and useful for deep muscle spasm. A refreshing and tonic action benefits sluggish and congested skins and may help to control acne. Useful for insect bites, also as an insect repellent.
