Legend: Benzoin, also known as gum Benjamin, is one of the classic ingredients of incense. In ancient civilisations and the middle ages, Benzoin known then as Friar’s Balsam, was used to drive out evil spirits, especially when combined with Myrrh and Frankincense.

Heal your body: Benzoin can warm and tones the heart and circulation. Antiseptic, expectorant and anti-inflammatory properties ease general aches and pains as well as arthritis. Has a good reputation for helping with respiratory disorders, beneficial action on bronchitis, asthma, colds, coughs, laryngitis and sore throats. Also helps with disorders of the urinary tract such as cystitis. Calming effect on the stomach, strengthens the pancreas aiding digestion. Said to help control blood sugar levels which could be helpful to sufferers of diabetes.

Directions: There are many ways to use essential oils, such as burning them in an oil burner, but remember never apply neat to the skin unless it has been mixed with a carrier oil such as jojoba first. If you are finding the oil hard to get out of the bottle because of it’s thickness, you can warm the oil by standing it in warm water, or take off the dripulator temporarily, extract the oil and replace the dripulator.
